The South African Deaf Sports Federation (SADSF) held its Quadrennial General
Meeting (QGM) on 11 April 2026, bringing together delegates to elect leadership and
shape the strategic direction of Deaf sport in South Africa.
The meeting saw the re-election of Mr Brian Mfundo Mkhize as President, securing 30
votes against Mr Khumbulani Mtshiywa, who received 7 votes.
Several key positions were filled unopposed, ensuring continuity within the federation’s
leadership:
- 1st Vice President: Mr Itumeleng Tshehlo
- Secretary: Mr Amos Risimati Mashele
- Treasurer: Mr Albie Louw
In addition, the following representatives were confirmed:
- Women in Sport Representative: Ms Patricia Kgamane
- Athletes Representative: Ms Amahle Jamane
- School Sport for the Deaf Representative: Ms Sebongile Mashibini
Ms Mashibini joins the executive as a new member, while the remaining members
continue from the previous term, providing stability and experience in leadership.
The Congress further resolved to amend the SADSF Constitution to introduce two new
positions:
- Deputy President (Transformation and Development)
- Deputy Secretary
These roles will be filled at a Special General Meeting once the constitutional
amendments have been finalized and the nomination process completed.
The election of Ms Amahle Jamane as Athletes Representative follows her selection by
athletes during the National Deaf Championships 2026 in Bloemfontein, in line with
SADSF governance processes.
The outcomes of the QGM mark an important step in strengthening governance,
enhancing transformation, and positioning SADSF for continued growth and success at
both national and international level.
