Day 3 Recap – Fearless Performances Across Golf & Table Tennis

On the third official day of competition at the 2025 Tokyo Deaflympics, Team South Africa once again displayed grit and determination on the global stage with athletes competing in golf and table tennis.

Table Tennis – Women’s Doubles

South Africa’s Thabisa Qhude and Sinovuyo Tyulu competed in the Women’s Doubles Round of 32 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Though they did not advance to the next round, the pair put in a spirited performance and represented the nation with pride.

Their journey in doubles concludes here, but both athletes will return to the tables for the women’s singles preliminary rounds tomorrow.

Golf – Round 2 at Wakasu Golf Links

It was the second round of the individual strokeplay competition, and both South African golfers continued to hold their own:

• Charles Williams posted a solid score of 79, improving on his first round and bringing his two-day total to 164. He currently sits in 20th place, with one round to go.

• Gail Klichowicz completed her round with a score of 111, for a combined total of 216, also placing her at 20thahead of the final round.

Both athletes tee off tomorrow in pursuit of stronger finishes.

Weather & Athlete Spirit

The weather in Tokyo remained steady at 15°C, though slightly milder than yesterday thanks to reduced wind chill. All our athletes gave it their absolute best, fighting fearlessly and embracing every challenge with heart and discipline.
