SADSF Congratulates gdsf on the election of new executive committee

The South African Deaf Sports Federation (SADSF) congratulates the Gauteng Deaf Sports Federation on the election of the new Provincial Executive Committee, following a successful election process held in accordance with its constitutional mandate. This milestone marks a pivotal moment in the advancement of Deaf sports in Gauteng and across South Africa.

Introducing the 2025–2029 GDSF Executive Committee:

Chairperson: Thami Shabangu

Vice-Chairperson: Truelove Ndlovu

Secretary: Aquilla Cassim

Treasurer: Moloko Arlaat

Women in Sports: Samora Mbuyazi

Athletes’ Representative: Busi Qondani

These leaders have been entrusted with steering the Federation for the next four years, bringing a blend of sports experience, community commitment, and leadership capacity. Their election is more than symbolic it empowers them to drive key developmental goals, foster inclusivity, and secure resources to grow Deaf sports from grassroots to elite levels.

Over the years, GDSF has solidified its role as one of the most dynamic provincial bodies under SADSF. The Federation continues to build Deaf sports clubs, support participation in international games, and run sustainable development programs. With continued backing from the Gauteng Department of Sports, regular leagues for soccer and netball remain core to its calendar.

In addition to league activities, GDSF hosts flagship events such as:

Gauteng Deaf Sports Day – held annually in August

Leadership Workshops – empowering Deaf youth and women

Deaf Women in Sport Initiatives – driving representation in leadership

The newly appointed committee is already mobilizing efforts to enhance program delivery, secure sponsorships, and extend the reach of GDSF’s mission. A notable recent contribution came from SWITCH, who generously donated over 200 energy drinks for athletes at GDSF events, demonstrating the power of partnerships in enabling active, healthy participation.

We look forward to a vibrant and impactful term under the leadership of the 2025–2029 Executive Committee. The journey toward inclusive, empowering, and competitive Deaf sports continues with Gauteng leading the way.
